Chelan HS football moves forward in the state playoffs: Cousins Quin and Colter Courtney played crucial roles in Chelan's exciting 27-22 win over Omak on Saturday afternoon.

Betty Wilsey will be featured at a book signing on December 4th from 3PM to 5PM at the Riverwalk Book Store in Chelan.

Betty's book, A Handshake and a Thousand Dollars, will also be available at the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center in Wenatchee, and The Lake Chelan Historical Society. Stehekin residents can purchase the book from John & Patty Wilsey in Stehekin.

"Annual Stehekin Visit to Holden"

Families and kids from the Stehekin community were invited up to Holden Village for sledding, games, crafts, tasty meals and, of course, to spend time with friends, both new and old. A big "Thank you" to everyone at Holden Village for being wonderful hosts!

"Cub Scout Pack 14 performs flag raising ceremony"

Cub Scout Pack 14 performed a flag raising ceremony at the Golden West Visitor Center in honor of Veterans Day, November 11th. The short service was held at 11:50 AM, just over 90 years after the first commemoration of the Great War Armistice was proclaimed by President Wilson, in 1919. About 50 residents and school children took time to thank veterans for their service, sing the Star Spangled Banner (led by Jeanette Kurth), mingle with neighbors, and enjoy a glorious sunny day.

Congressman Doc Hastings' (WA-04) legislation to rebuild the upper Stehekin Valley Road passed the House Natural Resources Committee today. The legislation must next be considered by the full House and Senate before it becomes law.

Testifying in favor of his bill, Sen. Evans said," What the bill would not do is to keep park visitors shut out of the park. All of the existing transportation and development corridors would be excluded from wilderness designation".
