The 27th annual Spinning Rendezvous welcomed former spinners and a few new spinners for a glorious time at the Stehekin Valley Ranch. This seemed to be the 'year of the sisters' as there were three families of sisters in attendance including two sets of twins; Carol Knapp's daughters Dianne and Dawn and Pam Salisbury's sisters, Debbie and Laura from California. Marge Lindsay and Alice Lake completed the spontaneous 'sister' theme for this year.

Our project was a delightful "hat" pincushion that Dianne and Dawn had discovered in an antique store. They led us in the construction of this reproduction ably assisted by mom, Carol. After some cutting, stitching and a little glue, a variety of hat pincushions emerged, each creation a little different from the other. It was a fun project enjoyed by all and produced a useful addition to our 'tools' of the trade.

All sorts of fibers were being spun; from freshly sheared alpaca locks to textured blends created from wool, silk noil and silk waste, as well as fine merino and shiny bombyx silk. It was a treat to see the variety of fibers being transformed into beautiful yarns. Sam's wonderful chair massages were interspersed among the spinning sessions so total relaxation was impossible to avoid.

The items brought for Show and Tell were inspiring as always. Kerry's unique felted dryer balls also wound up as a sought after door prize. Audrey's woven wall hanging depicting the colors of her home island was lovely and peaceful. Alice had a wonderful medallion scarf in progress that she assured us was not as complicated as it looked….hmmmmm. Rene shared Gordy's graduation quilt (Wow!) that included a dragon square designed and embroidered by Sam that was another Wow. All the items brought for Show and Tell (too numerous to mention here) were testimony to the group's collective creativity and skill.

Leave time appeared way too fast and before we knew it we were headed back to the Landing to catch the downlake boat after another enjoyable and memorable Rendezvous weekend.
